Two curves, one operating point
A centrifugal pump curve relates flow and head at a given speed. A system curve describes the head required by the installation as flow changes. Their intersection indicates an operating point under those conditions.
Look beyond a single value
Valve positions, tank levels, changing demand and control settings can move the operating point. A useful brief describes minimum, typical and peak conditions rather than only a single design value.
Review the complete application
Efficiency, suction conditions, motor loading, permitted operating range and fluid compatibility all need assessment. A conceptual curve is an explanation of a principle, not a substitute for manufacturer performance data.
