Technical enquiry documents and charts on an engineering desk

Describe the fluid

Identify the liquid, its temperature range and any suspended solids. Where applicable, include density, viscosity and chemical composition. Avoid assuming that every liquid behaves like clean water.

Define the operating requirement

Provide required flow with units and the total head, if known. Static lift alone does not describe the complete system: pipe friction, fittings and the required discharge pressure also matter. If the total head is unknown, share the layout and available measurements.

Explain the installation

Include suction arrangement, available space, power supply, operating hours and access constraints. Note whether the enquiry concerns a new installation, a replacement or a change to an existing duty.

Separate knowns from assumptions

Mark measured values, design requirements and estimates clearly. Final equipment selection requires a qualified review of the application and current manufacturer documentation.

This technical article provides general educational information. Final selection, installation and maintenance require appropriate professional review and current equipment documentation.
